A Note from Inside Ecuador
"While the churches in Ecuador are growing, many are not thriving. The increasing number of seekers are demanding solid Bible teaching. But most pastors do not have a true understanding of the entirety of God’s Word. Therefore, they cannot and do not teach well.
"Unlike pastors in the U.S., pastors here do not have the opportunities or the means to attend seminary or Bible college. For this reason, we go back to the basics of the gospel with pastors and church leaders.
"The vision of the Growing Pastors Project is to see the people of God well equipped to serve in ministry. We educate church leaders in the Word of God and train them through courses, workshops, conferences, and a three-year discipleship program that includes Bible study, pastoral literature, and character formation.
"SIM’s interdenominational mission frees us to work with pastors who want to work with us. It is our joy to see them mature over time, developing a genuine and deep commitment to God’s Word."
—Jose Gutierrez, 9-year SIM worker; based in Ecuador
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." — 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
The Need Is Great
“It is so key for believers in this part of Ecuador to have a solid understanding of what they believe so that they can stand firm when confronted with false teachings of Unitarians, Mormons, and Jehovah's Witnesses," says Murray Greenwood, a SIM worker. "When they grasp God’s truth, it will outshine any falsehood.”
We long to, by 2019-2020, offer three new training groups for church leaders.
